originates from a metal leaf production control organization that existed in the past.
The name expresses our aspiration to become a guild of our time that produces quality metal leaf with world-class technology and contributes to the preservation of Japanese traditional culture.
Showa period
Genji Takaoka founded Takaoka Gold Leaf Shop for gold leaf manufacturing and sales.
The shop was incorporated as TAKAOKA SEIHAKU Inc.
Produced gold leaf for the repair of Chuson-ji Temple Konjikido Golden Hall.
Noboru Takaoka became the president.
Produced gold leaf for the construction of the Japanese State Guest House.
Established TAKAOKA SHOJI Inc. *Changed the company name to HAKUZA Inc. in 2006.
Opened HAKUZA Main Store.
Produced gold leaf for the repair of Kanazawa Honganji Temple (Kanazawa Nishibetsuin). *Pillars, walls, sculptures, etc.
Opened “Aburatori HAKUZA” a facial blotting paper shop, in the Kanazawa Higashi Chaya district. *Changed the name to “Haku Hitotsumami” and shifted the line of business in 2014.
Opened “Gin-no-nami HAKUZA” a silver leaf shop, in the Kanazawa Higashi Chaya district.*Changed the name to “HAKU et Chambre” and shifted the line of business in 2008.
Opened “HAKUZA Keikodokoro” to allow people to enjoy gold leaf application experiences.*Moved to “HAKUZA Hikarigura” later.
Developed the Pure Gold Platinum Leaf original product.
Developed and commenced sales of “Pakkin Chopsticks” (gold leaf sprinkling chopsticks)
Opened “HAKUZA Hikarigura” in the Kanazawa Higashi Chaya district.
Constructed a golden storehouse in the HAKUZA Hikarigura store through the combination of pure gold platinum leaf and gold leaf with plasterwork.
Produced gold leaf for the repair of Nishi Honganji Temple.
TAKAOKA SHOJI Inc. was renamed to HAKUZA Inc. (Sep. 1).
Opened HAKUZA Online Shop.
Produced gold leaf for the repair of Kiyomizu Temple, reviving its hand-pounded gold leaf for the first time in 85 years.
Developed and commenced sales of our cosmetic series containing platinum gold leaf.
Opened “HAKU et Chambre” a daily goods and cosmetics store, in the Kanazawa Higashi Chaya district.
Opened the flagship store, HAKUZA Nihonbashi.
Opened “Chaya Bijin” a cosmetics store, in the Kanazawa Higashi Chaya district. *Closed “HAKU et Chambre”.
Established our product control center.
Opened “Haku Hitotsumami” a souvenir shop, in the Kanazawa Higashi Chaya district.*Changed the name to “HAKUZA Kin-no-engiya” and shifted the line of business in 2018
Received the 2013 Ishikawa Design Award for the development and production of pure gold platinum leaf.
Developed edible decorative metal leaf, proposing a new way of enjoying metal leaf in the gastronomic field.
Opened “HAKUZA Nagamachi” in Kanazawa Nagamachi to introduce the value of metal leaf in daily life.*Moved to “Chaya Bijin” in 2018 and closed in 2020.
Constructed the Gold Leaf Workshop for the production of purpose-made gold leaf
The studio for the manufacturing of original products was moved into the newly constructed Gold Leaf Crafts Studio.
The advertisement sign outside the Gold Leaf Crafts Studio building received the Ishikawa Prefecture Chamber of Commerce and Industry Award in the 29th Ishikawa Advertisement Scenery Awards.
Noboru Takaoka became the chairman and Mina Takaoka became the president.
Opened “HAKUZA Kin-no-engiya” in the Kanazawa Higashi Chaya district to allow people to enjoy gold leaf’s good fortune.
Concluded a collaborative agreement with Hodatsushimizu Town (Hakui District, Ishikawa Prefecture) to promote the attractiveness of the area as a tourist destination.
Opened “Entako”, a mobile takoyaki store.
Renewed HAKUZA Nihonbashi.
Started HAKU WORKS for custom-order works using metal leaf
Renewed the company website and online store. Opened online sites including Hakuhin Custom Order for accessories etc., HAKU-DO workshop for learning metal leaf handling and processing, and the HAKU Fun Fan Square community site.
